We are merely sojourners of His grace; though it is often challenging to love, we are nonetheless called to love deeply, just as He has loved us.
Let’s fall deeply in love with His Word—greater than any ideology, philosophy, psychological perspective, human prophecy, or popular belief that holds no real power over our lives. For the Word of God is alive and active, sharper than any double-edged sword. It pierces to the very core, dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it exposes the thoughts and intentions of the heart. His Word refines us, rebukes us, transforms us in ways we could never accomplish on our own, and restores what we thought was worthless and hopeless. It is a lamp unto our feet and a light to guide our path—a timeless love letter that transcends all of time and space.
Let’s fall in love with the One who holds the heavens in His hands, who renews the morning with new mercies, and brings joy even in the bleakest seasons of life. The One who knows every atom in the universe, who numbered the hairs on our heads, and knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb. He restores every cell in our bodies, places us in positions of honor, and calls us more than conquerors. He has loved us since the very beginning, with a love so unshakable that neither death nor life, angels nor demons, the present nor the future, nor any power, height, depth, or anything else in all creation can separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Let’s fall in love with the small and the ordinary—and everything in between. Just as He lived, choosing simplicity and transforming it into greatness. He was laid in a manger as a child, surrounded by shepherds. He worked with His hands, building with wood, and in time allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross He once crafted. He knelt to wash the calloused feet of His disciples, even knowing He would be betrayed and mocked. He fulfilled every prophecy of the Old Testament, offering redemption to all.
Let’s fall in love with the unseen—the weight of what cannot be touched but holds eternal value. The still, small voice urging us to glorify God. The Holy Spirit, our advocate, counselor, and intercessor, who strengthens us to face adversity with courage. The One who equips and teaches us to know God more deeply, who gives us discernment to see past earthly distractions and fix our gaze on the heavenly realm. The One who empowers us to put to death the desires of the flesh, to confront the secret sins of our hearts, and to live in the freedom of His grace.
Let’s fall in love with each other, just as He has loved us. Love one another earnestly, for love covers a multitude of sins. Outdo one another in showing honor, and be kind and tenderhearted. If you have a grievance against someone, forgive them as the Lord has forgiven you. Bear each other’s burdens, confess your struggles, share the vulnerabilities of your heart, and pray for one another to find healing from the weaknesses that threaten to break us. Encourage one another, build each other up, and speak the truth in love and honesty.
In a world that preaches self-love above all else, that teaches us to value ourselves more than our Creator, to find fulfillment in fleeting pleasures rather than eternal truths, and to chase personal dreams with reckless abandon instead of pursuing His dream of restoring people and building His kingdom—may we choose Him first, above all.
As all things fade and eventually return to dust, may we come to realize that we are merely passing through—sojourners and pilgrims in this temporary world. We, as believers, are called to stand apart, to embrace values and a purpose that defy the patterns of this world. May we find the courage to swim against the current, refusing to conform to fleeting worldly standards that fall short of the eternal truths found in His Word.
Instead, may we chase after His heart—seeking His desires above our own, longing for His presence more than anything this life could offer. Let our lives be a reflection of a greater purpose, one anchored in Him. Again, we are just sojourners of His grace.
How beautiful it is to walk through life, guided by His grace. Oh God, teach us to love you more.
I was left wonderstruck by yesterday's preaching on Psalm 37:1-11, especially the call to "delight yourself in the Lord." All the distractions of this world suddenly seem unappealing and no longer hold any power over my life. I pray that you too find this peace and joy in Him. Good night, journal buddies out there! Keep His Word in your hearts.
